PIPELINE

PIPELINE was an amazing experience for me. The thing I enjoyed the most was the connections and learning experiences PIPELINE gave me. I learned not only technical topics such as aerodynamics, proper laboratory testing, and project management, but I gained valuable soft skills.

The cohort of students within the program are great and friendly. Everyone is clearly motivated and enjoys their research. The staff are also friendly and super helpful.

I really enjoyed going on base and interacting with Navy engineers and program managers. PIPELINE provided the research environment I needed to get my PhD research off the ground by providing financial support for my time and an advisor.

I loved the trips to visit the NSWCs and DoD contractors! It was really cool to see where some of our work actually gets put towards the fleet. I have also enjoyed the opportunity to present posters on my work to the community.

PIPELINE has greatly increased my technical capabilities, and has also introduced me to several important people that have guided me along the path to working in the defense industry. It’s a completely new world, and learning how to navigate it has been an amazing experience.

I enjoyed the hands-on research that PIPELINE provided. The program provided an easy way to get into research, and found me a project that I could really invest myself into. I also enjoyed the experience presenting my research to professionals.

I’ve learned how to work better with others, communicate my ideas clearly, and take initiative on projects. It gave me a chance to connect what I’m learning in class to real-world situations, which made me more confident in my engineering skills. Overall, PIPELINE helped me build useful skills, make great connections, and gain a better sense of direction for my career.

The most valuable thing PIPELINE has done for me is gotten me connected with people. I got connected with professors to do research with, advisors that really care about me as a person, friends who have similar interests as me, and professional connections who have helped me work towards internship opportunities.
