PIPELINE Capstone project earns 2nd Place at Learning Factory Showcase

The PIPELINE Pioneers Capstone Project, a collaboration between Penn State’s PIPELINE program and the Learning Factory, sponsored by the Office of Naval Research, earned 2nd place in the Learning Factory Capstone Design Showcase. This achievement highlights the innovative work of the talented student team—Felix Cooper, Ian Yi, Yajat Dewan, and Jamie Ye—who designed and implemented a cost-effective manufacturing process for unique awards. These awards recognize excellence in guest speaking, student projects, and faculty advising, embodying the mission of the PIPELINE program while reinforcing Penn State’s branding.
Objectives:
-
Develop a Replicable Manufacturing Process: Create a streamlined process for producing high-quality awards that future teams can replicate with minimal experience in manufacturing.
-
Optimize Production to Meet Specifications: Utilize advanced manufacturing techniques, such as laser engraving and 3D printing, to produce awards that align with PIPELINE’s specifications while maintaining quality and minimizing costs.
