Dr. Dean E. Capone is a Senior Scientist and Research Professor at the Pennsylvania State University’s Applied Research Laboratory (ARL), and holds an appointment on the graduate faculty of Graduate Program in Acoustics. Prior to assuming his role as a Senior Scientist Dr. Capone served as a Deputy Director, Head of the Fluid Dynamics and Acoustics Office at ARL. Dr. Capone has over thirty years of experience, primarily focused on Naval applications, in the technical areas of acoustics, hydrodynamics, flow-induced noise, structural acoustics, noise and vibration control, and acoustic data analysis. Prior to his employment at ARL he was employed as a Mechanical Engineer at the Carderock Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center (CDNSWC). As a result of his research, Dr. Capone has published over fifty refereed journal articles, conference proceedings and technical memoranda. Additionally, he has authored or co-authored over sixty presentations for technical society meetings, and is co-inventor on one patent. He is the past Chair of the Structural Acoustics and Vibration Technical Committee of the Acoustical Society of America and served on the Board of Directors of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering.
